Rajni Bakshi

Rajni Bakshi is a journalist and author. Her most recent book is "Bazaars, Conversations and Freedom: for a market culture beyond greed and fear" was published by Penguin in July this year. 
 
For the last 20 years Rajni has closely studied and written extensively about social and political movements in India, particularly grass-roots struggles for an alternative, more creative model of development. A graduate of George Washington University and Rajasthan University, she has worked as a reporter for The Indian Express and The Telegraph (Calcutta) and as a freelancer for many leading English and Hindi newspapers and magazines. Rajni serves on the Board of Child Rights and You, Centre for Education and Documentation and Citizens for Peace.

R. Sriram

R. Sriram

Sriram’s passion for books led him to establish various bookstores – he started with Landmark in Chennai, set up Walden in Hyderabad and then the Crossword chain. He co-founded Crossword with Ms. K. Anita in 1992 and helped build it into India’s leading bookstore chain. He stepped down from Crossword in August 2006 to co-found “Next Practice Retail”, which offers business design, incubation and consulting services for consumer and retail businesses. He serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Camlin Limited. Sriram is President-Elect of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Mumbai, the global not-for- profit organization that fosters entrepreneurship. He is on the advisory boards of Pratham Books, the non-profit trust that seeks to publish high-quality books for children at an affordable cost in multiple Indian languages, and SNEHA - the non-profit Society for Nutrition, Education & Health Action for women and children in urban slums. Sriram has been a visiting faculty at IIM A and a guest lecturer at IIM L and other business schools as it helps him keep learning.


Arun Diaz

Arun Diaz

Arun Diaz is a Management Consultant working with local and multinational clients in India and abroad. Following a degree in Mathematics from the University of Madras and an MBA from Xavier Institute, Jamshedpur, India Arun joined Standard Chartered Bank in India in 1973. His 28 year career covered all areas of banking and included assignments in Europe and the Middle East and the Asia Pacific Region. 
From 1985 to 1991 he was Operations Manager, India with responsibility for Technology and Operations. Thereafter, in Singapore, Arun headed up several Group level projects before becoming Head of Integration for a major acquisition in Indonesia. His last assignment involved setting up and overseeing a group of 20 projects designed to reduce the Bank’s cost base through outsourcing, centralisation and off-shoring.
Since leaving SCB in late 2001, Arun was briefly Head, Reuters Consulting South Asia before becoming a freelance consultant. Arun is also a director of two private limited companies; one which provides recruitment, training and staffing services to clients in the banking, insurance, telecom and BPO industries and the other which runs a clinic which is a franchisee of The Apollo Clinic in Thane, near Mumbai.
He also volunteers his time to entrepreneurship development through Aavishkaar India Micro Venture Capital Fund of which he is a member of the Management and Investment Committees. Arun enjoys providing handholding and mentoring support to many of the funds investee companies. In addition he takes a keen interest in social entrepreneurship and NGO activities.

Narayan Ramachandran

Narayan Ramachandran

Narayan Ramachandran is Country Head of Morgan Stanley in India, leading all of the Group's businesses. He returned to India in 2006 as Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Stanley Investment Management. Prior to these roles, Narayan was the Head and co-lead portfolio manager of Morgan Stanley’s Global Emerging Markets and Global Asset Allocation teams, managing over $25 billion in assets. He joined Morgan Stanley in 1996 and has 20 years of investment experience. Before joining the firm, he was a managing director at Rogers Casey (now CRA Rogers Casey). In addition, Narayan was director of research at Rogers Casey and president of its investment advisory subsidiary. Previously, he was a research associate at Goldman Sachs. Narayan has written articles for the academic and trade press, and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. He received a B.Tech. in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan. Narayan holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is director of several companies. Narayan has a keen interest in using market-based mechanisms for poverty alleviation in areas such as micro-finance, social venture capital, micro-insurance and affordable housing.
Alok Prasad

Alok Prasad

Alok Prasad is the Head, Strategy & Business Development for Citi India’s Global Consumer Group and Business Manager-Microfinance Group, Citi India.  He is also on the Board of Directors of CitiFinancial India and Citicorp Maruti Finance Limited India. 
Alok is a senior banker with over 25 years of banking experience across varied institutions in the Government and the Private sector. He began his career in the Reserve Bank in 1978. For the next decade or so, he served with distinction in different departments of the Reserve Bank. In 1989, he was seconded to the National Housing Bank as a part of its start-up team. He was closely associated with the development of this apex level statutory institution and the framing of policies for the housing finance sector. Thereafter, in 1996, he moved to the private sector as the CEO of ITC Home Finance Limited. 
Alok joined Citi in 2000 and was instrumental in building the home equity business in India. Under his leadership, this business emerged as the most successful mortgage business for Citi in the Asia-Pacific region.  As the Country Director for Citi Microfinance, he has driven the dramatic growth in Citi’s microfinance footprint.  

KN Vaidyanathan

KN Vaidyanathan

As the Executive Director, SEBI, Vaidyanathan is in charge of ‘Investment Management Department’ which looks after the Division of Funds – Mutual Funds, Foreign Institutional Investors, Custodians and Collective Investment Schemes and has over two decades of experience in Financial Services.  Prior to joining SEBI, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Alchemy Capital Management. He was the Vice President and Business Head of Morgan Stanley Asset Management for seven years since its set up in India in 1993.  Prior to that, he was responsible for setting up the Institutional Securities and Custody Business at HSBC in India. 
Vaidyanathan has been a Director on the Board of Association of Mutual Funds in India (1995-2000) and has been a member of several initiatives of the Government / Regulator / Industry on framing policies / guidelines for institutional investors – both domestic and foreign. He holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Madras and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) and is also a member of the Finance Board of IIM Ahmedabad.

Jun Zhang

Jun Zhang

Mr. Jun Zhang is Manager, Financial Markets, South Asia Department and is based in the IFC Mumbai Office. He heads IFC's investments in the financial sector in South Asia. He also oversees advisory services in the financial sector in India. 

Jun has held various positions in the East Asia Infrastructure Department of the World Bank and East Asia and Global Financial Markets Departments of IFC in Washington, DC. In those capacities, Jun has participated and led IFC’s financial sector investment programs in Indonesia, China, Russia, the Middle East and Central Asia. 

Mr. Zhang holds a Ph.D. degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and M.A. from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Anal Jain

Anal Jain has over three decades of experience in senior management in the technology industry and consulting. Anal Jain headed Sales and Marketing in Wipro through the late 80s and early 90s during which time Wipro grew from an IT startup to industry leading status. He then started and ran IBM’s businesses in India as President – Domestic Businesses, when IBM re-entered India in 1992 after an absence of 14 years at the start of liberalization in India.
Subsequently he was the founding Managing Director of Sun Microsystems India, then CEO of Birlasoft, and subsequently Managing Director of Network Appliance India. Most recently he was the Managing Director of MV Microfin, an equity fund investing in the MicroFinance industry in India. Currently he is Advisor to Sa-Dhan, and also chairs its Technology panel. He is also active in Nasscom, especially as a mentor to emerging companies and entrepreneurs. He is a Charter member of TiE.
He did his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, where he was on a
scholarship for his academic performance. Subsequently he went on a Fellowship to do his Masters in Electrical Engineering from New York.

An investment and private banker, Nandan Malutse has uniquely worked across India, the United Kingdom and the Gulf as public accountant, management consultant, journalist, advertising executive, entrepreneur, board member of companies and trusts, researcher and consultant in government, social activist, and founder of an art fund. 
Nandan is President of CSO Partners, was Honorary Treasurer of the Bombay Gymkhana, chaired CRY-Child Rights & You, the Employment Skills Task Force of the Confederation of Indian Industry, Education for All Committee of the Rotary Club of Bombay, is a founder of Citizens for Justice & Peace, etc.  
Apart from speaking regularly at professional, industry and academic, seminars, Nandan has presented to Parliament’s Standing Committee on Finance. He has been published in R&D Management (Oxford), World Affairs (New Delhi), Business India (Mumbai), Communalism Combat (Mumbai), etc. been interviewed for the press, TV and radio, and addressed Rotary Clubs on three continents. 
Nandan Maluste was educated at the Cathedral & John Connon School, Mumbai, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT) and Manchester Business School, England,  and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. His Spare time interests include racquet games, travel, mentoring.

Mona Kachhwaha

Mona is the Director, Investments, of Caspian Advisors Private Ltd; Caspian manages & advises two India-focused financial inclusion funds: the Bellwether Microfinance Fund and India Financial Inclusion Fund. She joined Caspian 2 years ago, after over 13 years of finance industry experience with the Global Consumer Group of Citibank India, where she worked in a range of functions including Operations, Sales, Product Development, Credit Risk Management and Business Management. At Citibank India she was the business head for the Microfinance Business, and prior to that she was the head of the credit risk function (Policy & Credit Administration) for the Mortgage Business. Mona also acts as an Investment Partner of Grassroots Capital, USA.  

Pravesh Sharma

Pravesh Sharma is a member of the Indian Administrative Service since 1982, with over 27 years of working experience in food security, agriculture, rural finance, rural development and natural resources management. He has worked for two decades in Madhya Pradesh state, as well as for 3 years in the Prime Minister’s Office. 

Pravesh Sharma spent a year as Visiting Fellow at Princeton University, USA, researching food policy issues. He has also served on a five-year UN assignment (2001-2006) with the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD), working on issues of rural poverty, microfinance and women’s empowerment. 

Pravesh Sharma has written extensively on issues of agriculture, rural development and related issues. He is widely published in journals and newspapers and has co-edited 2 books, including one on food and agriculture with Prof. M.S.Swaminathan. 

He is currently on a year’s sabbatical from the IAS and is affiliated as Visiting Fellow at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi.

Amit Mukherjee ,an Business Economics Post Graduate from Delhi Unversity and an MBA from AIM Manila, has over 33 years of experience in the Corporate sector and Investment Banking. He has recently stepped down from Investment Banking to explore mentoring and advising entities in the social sector.

After spending his initial years at L&T, Amit spent a large part of his Investment Banking career at Lazards, a global Wall Street firm, where he was a managing Director and member of the Executive management Board, and thereafter with Ambit, a domestic Investment Bank as a Shareholder, Managing Director and a Board Member.

Amit has a rich and varied experience, having advised several Multinationals and large Indian Corporate Houses on both domestic and cross border M&A. An active participant in business conferences and seminars, he has participated in World Economic Forum, Annual Meets at Davos, Business Delegations to the US.
Pravin Gandhi

Pravin Gandhi is a Director in "SEED FUND", an early stage fund launched in 2006. He is also a Managing Partner of "Infinity Venture Fund", an early stage fund launched in year 1999-2000.
With operational and management experience spanning 30 odd years, he was one of the early IT entrepreneurs having promoted Hinditron in 1972 and a successful IPO in 1988.He is a past president of the Manufacturers Association of Information Technology (an IT manufacturers association in India) and was formerly a member of the NASSCOM executive council. He also is an active advisor of Aavishkaar (a social venture fund).
He has been an angel investor in various IT Companies and is a member of the boards of several companies including Schiller Healthcare.
A past-President of TiE, Mumbai,  he holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Cornell University. 

Vijay Chandok

Vijay Chandok is Senior General Manager, ICICI Bank and Head - Retail Assets, SME and Rural & Agri Banking group. He is also the Vice Chairman of ICICI Home Finance Company Limited and has been responsible for starting and scaling up SME business which currently, provides services to about one million SME customers across the entire spectrum of SME businesses. He was also responsible for the amalgamation of erstwhile The Sangli Bank into ICICI Bank.
 
He is also a nominee of the Bank on the Board of SMERA, (a credit rating agency) focused on SME's in India and Chairman of New Ventures India (NVI) Steering Committee, which is a Global Development Alliance between Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre and World Resources Institute, Washington DC and the mechanism has been supported by US agency for International Development (USAID). He is also a Director on the Board of Financial Information Network and Operations Pvt. Ltd. (FINO), an IT solution provider to banks to reach out to rural areas through innovative solution such as chip-based biometric cards.
Vijay has about a decade of experience in the Corporate Banking space prior to taking on the SME assignment. He is also a key member of a team which was set up to bring a sharper focus on customer relationship management and cost management. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from IT- BHU and a Masters Degree in Business Management from Mumbai University.
